Orcon announces school UFB plans
Thu, 29th Mar 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Following on from its consumer and business UFB pricing announcement earlier this month, Orcon has revealed its three education UFB pricing plans, including a top-level plan offering 1000GB of data.

For that peak usage, schools will pay $379 per month; there are also two smaller plans, offering 100GB per month for $159, and 30GB per month for $129.

The ISP has already connected five Whangarei schools via UFB, including Manaia View Primary School, the first school in the country to be hooked up to the network.

To ensure the security of the service, Orcon is partnering with Ministry of Education firewall and filtering partner Watchdog.

Orcon CEO Scott Bartlett says schools in other centres including Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Napier, Invercargill, Dunedin and Rotorua have all registered their interest with the company.

"By providing affordable UFB to schools it demonstrates that Orcon is serious about our mission to make sure that nobody gets left behind when it comes to reaping the benefits of fibre.
