Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand has announced the release date of the company's new handheld, the PlayStation Vita.

The device will be released in New Zealand on February 23, 2012, just one day after it is made available in the US, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia.

The wi-fi model will retail for $449.95, and the wi-fi/3G model for $549.95.
