Chris Quin to fill gap as Telecom CEO
Thu, 10th May 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Outgoing Telecom CEO Paul Reynolds will depart the company at the end of June, Telecom has announced, with Gen-i boss Chris Quin to fill in until new CEO Simon Moutter starts on September 1.

Quin, who was tipped by some to be a frontrunner for the job, will be acting CEO from June 1 until September 1; Reynolds will remain at Telecom throughout June in a supporting capacity, officially departing on June 30.

In a release from the company, Telecom chairman Mark Verbiest thanks Reynolds for his leadership, and Quin for stepping in to assist the transition.

"[Reynolds] has led the company through two radical revisions of the regulatory environment,” Verbiest says, "as well as the successful demerger and creation of Chorus as a completely independent company.

"Chris has shown he is a passionate advocate for our customers, and he is the right person to keep driving Telecom’s focus on customers in the interim.”

Reynolds adds that he has ‘no doubt that Telecom will continue to progress and improve’.

"I leave Telecom with real gratitude at being given the opportunity to negotiate a reset of Telecom’s place in New Zealand,” Reynolds says, "and to work with the enormously talented and committed team of people in the company.”
