Anger foot 09
Tue, 8th Jul 2025

It's always great to see indie developers working on games, as they offer something different compared to AAA companies. One such game that bucks the trend is Anger Foot, which was first released on PC and Mac back in 2024.

Anger Foot is developed by a small South African studio called Free Lives. Some gamers may know the studio for its earlier games, such as The Expendabros and Broforce. While Anger Foot isn't available on Xbox just yet, the game is out now for PS5 gamers in 2025.

Anger Foot is an R-rated game because it has sick humour, lots of violence, hardcore music, and drug and alcohol use. The game is set in a place literally called 'Shit City' because it's a location where crime is encouraged by all of its citizens. I also forgot to mention this is a violent first-person shooter that adults will love.

As for the story, it starts off with Anger Foot killing a bunch of dudes to get hold of a rare type of sneaker. The character of Anger Foot is a green monster, and he enjoys collecting expensive sneakers as a hobby.

Things seem to be going well for Anger Foot because his sneaker collection is complete, and he's hanging out with his girlfriend. However, his life turns upside down when the city's four biggest gangs team up to steal the four best sneakers in his collection. Anger Foot's girlfriend encourages him to get the sneakers back so that they can finally relax for their movie night.

One of the unique aspects of this game is Anger Foot's literal foot. When you press the L2 button on the PS5, Anger Foot executes a really powerful kick. His big green foot can be used to kill enemies with one hit, or it can be utilised to break down doors.

One of the reasons I love the game so much is that you can theoretically play the entire game by just using Anger Foot's big foot. If you are able to dodge enemy gunfire, you can pretty much kill every enemy with Anger's foot. Using his foot is encouraged by the developer because it's one of the game's many side quests during some missions.

If you don't like using his foot, you can pick up one of the game's many weapons. At the start of Anger Foot, only a pistol is available, but other weapons pop up when you progress further in the game. Other weapons that become available include shotguns, Uzis, crossbows, flamethrowers, and more.

Ammo in the game is kind of limited, but you can pick up more weapons when you kill lots of enemies. The game is a really fast-paced style of FPS, because there is no cover system, and you need to move constantly to kill the many enemies that pop up in the narrow levels.

Anger Foot doesn't have a map or waypoint, but it doesn't need it because the game is super linear and the levels are very small. The developer encourages players to speed run the game because you can literally finish the levels in one or two minutes if you manage to move really fast.

Another cool aspect of Anger Foot is that you earn stars every time you finish the level. If you complete the side quests, you will get even more stars. Side quests can include finishing a level in under a minute, using melee attacks only, or even getting multiple headshots.

Earning lots of stars is important because you get to unlock more sneakers for Anger Foot to wear. Some of the sneakers have special powers, and you may need to use a specific type in order to complete the side quests.

Some of the sneaker powers I unlocked included a double jump, a slide, explosive enemies, and gaining ammo after each kill, and so much more. The game has a lot of replay value because you will want to unlock all the sneakers to see which one is the best to use for a specific mission.

Aside from normal enemies, the game also has several epic boss fights too. They're a bunch of literal animals, and they can be tough to beat all in one go. You have to really find out their patterns before you can exploit their weak spots.

While this game can be fun in short bursts, it is relentless because enemies are everywhere, and multiple explosions can occur. Some of the levels can be annoying to trek through, as poison can be on the floor, or you may have to navigate annoying jumping sections as well.

Not to mention, the core gameplay can get repetitive because some of the same enemies keep popping up in each of the levels. As you progress, more enemy types eventually appear, but the old ones still show up from time to time.

Graphically, this game isn't a super powerhouse since Anger Foot is made by an indie developer. That being said, people who liked the art style of cartoons such as 'The Ren & Stimpy Show' will probably love the gore and violent presentation of this game.

Overall, Anger Foot isn't a bad FPS, but it's an acquired taste. The replay value is awesome, but the gameplay can get repetitive after a few hours. However, it may still be worth playing on PS5 since it's not being sold at full price.

Verdict: 7.0/10
