Hertz strikes deal with Kiwi Wi-Fi car services
Idataroam, 100% Kiwi owned, has partnered with global car giant Hertz across Australia and New Zealand, offering cheap internet while travelling around the country.
Becoming the first product to target international travellers in the rental car market, the solution is also a first for an Australasian car rental company.
The deal will allow Hertz customers to access the internet while travelling at up to 95% off roaming costs and over 50% over hotel Wi-Fi charges.
Delivered via the use of palm sized Mi-Fi units and an integrated software solution, the device also extends Hertz’s brand presence.
"No one else is doing this in the Southern Hemisphere and there is only one company doing it in the UK, as far as we know,” Hertz says.
"We've travelled quite a bit ourselves and we know the amount of money you get slammed for internet costs.
"We are incredibly excited. We have had people looking at it in Australia and the US.
“We really want to be a roaming solution provider worldwide within a couple of years."
Hertz currently has 100 of the units in process with a further 100 available soon.
Available at a cost of NZ$12.95 + GST per day, Hertz says more packages will be available in the near future.
