LG launches two new UltraGear OLED gaming monitors

Today

LG Electronics Australia has introduced two new OLED gaming monitors as part of its UltraGear lineup for 2025.

The newly announced models are the UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor GX7 (Model 27GX790A) and the UltraGear 45-inch OLED Dual-Mode 5K2K Gaming Monitor (Model 45GX950A).

LG states that these additions offer features designed to address both competitive esports requirements and immersive single-player gaming preferences.

Joseph Suh, IT Product Director at LG Electronics Australia, said, "At LG, we're driven by a commitment to Innovation for a Better Life, and these new UltraGear monitors perfectly embody this. We've listened to our customers and engineered displays that not only deliver exceptional performance but also prioritise their comfort and provide truly immersive experiences that put a smile on their face. Whether you crave the lightning-fast responsiveness of the GX7 or the breathtaking immersion of the 45-inch 5K2K display, UltraGear has a monitor to unlock your full gaming potential."

The UltraGear OLED GX7 (Model 27GX790A) is designed for high-speed gaming, with a 480Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms (GtG) response time. This combination aims to provide clear visuals and reduced motion blur in fast-paced game scenarios, as well as minimising ghosting effects. The monitor features a QHD (2560 x 1440) OLED display, producing deep blacks and heightened contrast levels via self-lit OLED technology for what LG describes as more lifelike visuals.

Compatibility with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is present, enabling synchronisation of the display's refresh rate with graphics cards, which reduces visual artefacts and should help provide a smoother gaming experience.

The GX7 includes connectivity options such as DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, intended to support high refresh rates and resolutions for up-to-date gaming consoles and PC systems.

The UltraGear 45GX950A is positioned as the first OLED curved display offering 5K2K (5120 x 2160) resolution. Its 45-inch panel utilises an 800R curvature, presenting a wider view and higher pixel count than standard UHD screens. According to LG, the 45GX950A provides a 34% broader field of view than conventional 16:9 monitors and offers a 33% pixel increase over UHD panels, which may benefit users seeking expansive panoramic immersion in open-world gaming environments.

The monitor features dual-mode functionality, allowing users to switch between WUHD 165Hz and WFHD 330Hz operation. This adjustable setting is said to optimise either visual fidelity or responsiveness, depending on the demands of individual games.

Both the 45GX950A and the GX7 feature a 0.03ms (GtG) response time, while the 45GX950A carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, delivering deeper blacks and higher colour vibrancy. LG emphasises that the HDR support ensures subtle details in shadows, contributing to a sense of realism in gameplay visuals.

Connectivity options for the 45GX950A include DP 2.1 and USB-C, with the latter supporting data transfer and device charging. This is intended to simplify user setups and reduce cable clutter.

User-centric elements across both models include an anti-glare and low-reflection coating, DTS Headphone:X support for spatial audio, and LG's customisable Gaming GUI. Display position adjustments such as tilt, height, swivel, and, in the GX7, pivot functions are included to cater to user comfort during extended gaming sessions.

Key technical specifications for the UltraGear OLED GX7 are a 26.5-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution, OLED panel type, 16:9 aspect ratio, DCI-P3 98.5% (CIE1976) colour gamut, a typical brightness of 275 cd/m2, refresh rate up to 480Hz, and 0.03ms (GtG) response time. The UltraGear OLED 5K2K GX9 (45GX950A) offers a 44.5-inch screen, 5120 x 2160 resolution, OLED panel, 21:9 aspect ratio, 800R curvature, typical brightness of 275 cd/m2, maximum 165Hz refresh rate, and similar response times, with adjustments for tilt, height, and swivel.

The recommended retail price for the new LG UltraGear 2025 range, which includes the GX7 and the 45-inch 5K2K model, starts at AUD $1,599. Both monitors are available for purchase through LG's online channels.
