Patch Tuesday due this week

Microsoft will fix two vulnerabilities it considers
critical, when it issues its monthly Patch Tuesday update this week.

Both vulnerabilities would allow hackers to remotely control
a computer. One is in Windows and one in Office. Windows 7 and Windows Server
2008 R2 customers will be offered the Windows related update, but Microsoft
says they are “not vulnerable in their default configurations”.

The updates are expected to be issued automatically on
Wednesday or Thursday, NZ time, and will require you to restart your computer.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is again advising users of Windows 2000
and Windows XP SP2 that all support for these platforms will end after July 13th.
Customers should upgrade to either a supported operating system or the latest
service pack in order to keep receiving security updates.
