Reuters: iPad launch on March 2nd

Wed, 23rd Feb 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

In the middle of January, the founder of content sharing site Digg.com, Kevin Rose, said that he had it on good authority that Apple will announce a release date for iPad 2 around February 1st.

Here we are nearing the end of February and there's still been no official word from Apple that such a device even exists. Reuters is now reporting that Apple will host an event on March 2nd, "where the company is expected to take the wraps off the newest iPad model, an individual with knowledge of the situation said.

A Taiwanese brokerage firm said the iPad 2 would be delayed as maker Hon Hai faces production bottlenecks due to the device's new design.

Analysts have downplayed the report, causing some industry watchers to speculate that Apple's PR department has stepped in to kill product delay rumours.
