Samsung’s thinnest and lightest tablet, the Galaxy Tab S, is hitting New Zealand shelves today so Kiwis can get their hands on the latest evolution in mobile display technology.

Designed to "raise the bar for tablets", the device provides users with enhanced screen resolution, picture quality, power and portability – packaged in a sleek and ultra-portable mobile device.

The advanced Super AMOLED display technology combines a wider range of colours with a 100,000:1 contrast ratio for richer colours, deeper blacks and a crisper picture.

“We’re really excited to introduce the Tab S to New Zealanders," says Josh Delgado, Director of IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics New Zealand.

"The way we are consuming media is changing quickly and there is now a proliferation of platforms available for us to view, share and engage with content.

"As a world leader in technology, Samsung is staying ahead of the game by ensuring our devices deliver the most premium experience possible.

“Kiwis are watching more and more video on demand and they aren’t just sitting on the sofa – they are watching it everywhere.

"To create the best viewing experience possible, New Zealanders are demanding devices that give them rich, clear colour, while being both powerful and portable. Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S delivers just this.”

As part of Samsung’s long-standing commitment to supporting locally available content, the Galaxy Tab S supports the TVNZ Ondemand, 3NOW and SKY GO applications, making on-demand content readily accessible on-the-go.

The Galaxy Tab S RRPs are as follows:

 Galaxy Tab S 10.5 32 GB - $849

 Galaxy Tab S 10.5 16GB - $749

 Galaxy Tab S 8.5 16GB - $599
