Seek Mobile goes from 0 to 100,000 in six months
Over 100,000 job searches were conducted via New Zealand mobile phones in June, thanks to the mobile-friendly page offered by leading employment website Seek.
Launched in December, Seek Mobile allows jobseekers to view new jobs and receive job alerts on their mobile phones, and the newly-added Seek Mobile Apply can be used to submit applications.
Rather than running from an app, the service is simply a version of the site streamlined for mobile phones. It can be accessed from both iPhones and Android-enabled smartphones.
Seek Mobile attracted 38,000 visitors at its launch, and topped 100,000 just last month.
Janet Faulding, general manager of Seek New Zealand, says the service was offered a response to demands from the market for more convenience.
"Jobseekers don’t want to be confined by location or access to a computer when looking for a new role,” Faulding says, "they want a service that fits with their pace of life and mobility.
"The daily commute, lunch break or even the departure lounge at the airport are now all jobseeking locations.
"Not only does this offer convenience but discretion, the two things top of mind for all kiwi jobseekers.”
