Online war game World of Tanks publishers, Wargaming America, are to donate US$20,000 to the RSA, in a move that shows not all players of war-themed games are completely disconnected from the reality of the world they are simulating.

The money was raised as part of an Anzac Day promotion run last April, which promised to donate one third of all ‘gold package' proceeds earned during a three-day period.

Australian returned services charity Legacy was originally intended to be the only recipient, but they opted to share half of the money with the RSA.

The promotion follows a similar drive to raise money for US veterans, run around the time of Veterans' Day.
