ANZ to release mobile wallet for Android
Wed, 25th Mar 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

ANZ has today announced it will release a mobile wallet later this year within ANZ goMoney, the bank's mobile banking app.

The wallet will enable customers to make contactless payments if they have an Android smartphone, the ANZ goMoney app an an ANZ debit card or personal credit card. The company did not say if the technology was coming for iPhone users.

“The ANZ goMoney Wallet will transform the way New Zealanders pay for goods and services,” says Liz Maguire, ANZ's head of digital channels and transformation.   “Mobile wallet is the next evolution in payments, enabling customers to use smartphones to make everyday credit or debit card purchases – such as coffee, petrol or groceries,” she says. “Our goal is for the goMoney Wallet to be the most accessible, secure and easiest to use mobile payments solution in New Zealand.”   The company says, “the key benefit of the goMoney Wallet is that it will be within ANZ's trusted mobile banking app, ANZ goMoney, removing the need for a separate app or SIM card upgrade. Payments can be made with just one tap.”   Using host card emulation (HCE) technology, the wallet will feature the most advanced encryption technology to protect customers' financial information.   Maguire said the project was on track for launch later this year.
