Asus ROG unveils Kojima Ludens-themed Flow Z13-KJP
Asus Republic of Gamers has announced a collaboration with Japanese game developer Kojima Productions, unveiling a special-edition ROG Flow Z13-KJP gaming tablet and a matching line of branded peripherals at CES.
The partnership centres on Kojima Productions' Ludens character and imagery, which feature across the hardware and accessories. Asus is positioning the range as a crossover between gaming devices and the studio's visual design.
Design-led tablet
The ROG Flow Z13-KJP is a customised version of Asus's 13.4-inch gaming tablet, with external styling drawn directly from Kojima Productions' iconography. The Ludens symbol, which the studio uses as a standard bearer for "those who play", informs the visual approach.
Yoji Shinkawa, the long-time art director for Hideo Kojima's games, produced concept sketches for the device and wider range. The chassis uses CNC-milled aluminium with angular cut-outs and carbon fibre elements, along with a bespoke typeface that matches the collaboration theme.
"I wanted to create a gadget that belongs to Ludens, and I integrated that into this PC design," said Yoji Shinkawa, Art Director, Kojima Productions. "Parts and designs are inspired by Ludens and has its essence."
The Flow Z13-KJP ships with a unique carrying case and custom packaging. It also includes a customised power adapter and an exclusive Armoury Crate software theme that reflects the art direction.
AMD-based hardware
Asus has based the Flow Z13-KJP on AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with integrated Radeon 8060S graphics. The chip combines 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and 40 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units in a single package.
The system uses a unified memory architecture. The CPU and GPU share a pool of up to 128GB of RAM, which the system allocates dynamically between tasks. Asus is targeting users who play games and also carry out creative workloads on a single device.
The processor includes a neural processing unit rated at 50 tera operations per second. Asus states that this allows local execution of large language models, which can reduce reliance on cloud services and keep processing on the device.
The Flow Z13-KJP includes a 13.4-inch Nebula Display with a 2.5K resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate. The panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space. The screen pairs with a detachable keyboard, which allows laptop-style or tablet-only use and positions the device as a 2-in-1 system for gaming and content work.
Ludens peripherals
The collaboration extends beyond the main tablet to a limited-edition peripheral range. Asus and Kojima Productions have applied the same Ludens artwork and slogan mash-up across a headset, mouse and mouse mat.
The ROG Delta II-KJP headset uses a bold white finish with detailing that matches the wider KJP design language. Asus is pitching the model at players who want branded audio hardware aligned with Kojima Productions' visuals.
The ROG Keris II Origin-KJP Edition gaming mouse adopts a gold, grey and white colour scheme. The mouse is based on Asus's existing Keris shape and weight profile, with the special edition treatment focused on colours and surface graphics.
The range also includes the ROG Scabbard II XXL-KJP, a large-format mouse mat. The mat features an outline of the Ludens figure facing forward, which mirrors the themes used on the tablet chassis.
All three accessories feature the line "For Ludens Who Dare". This phrase merges Asus ROG's "For Those Who Dare" slogan with Kojima Productions' "From Sapiens to Ludens" concept. Shinkawa illustrated the hand-drawn design used across the products.
Brand crossover
Asus has pursued several tie-ups between its ROG hardware and popular game franchises in recent years. Kojima Productions has also explored merchandise and brand collaborations around its Ludens figure and its games.
The two companies frame this latest project as a meeting of hardware engineering and narrative-led design. They are targeting players who are familiar with Kojima's work and who want devices that reflect that aesthetic.
"Parts and designs are inspired by Ludens and has its essence," said Shinkawa.
Asus plans to offer the ROG Flow Z13-KJP and its associated peripherals as limited-edition products for fans of the studio and the ROG brand.
