E3 2017: Sony reveals trailers for Spider-Man PS4, God of War and loads more
Tue, 13th Jun 2017
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Sony was a bit conservative this year at E3 2017 focusing more on game trailers rather than new announcements. That being said, there's a ton of PS4 exclusives on the way very soon.  Sony actually had a pre-show before its E3 2017 presentation with new trailers for the likes of Knack 2 and Gran Turismo Sport. Knack 2 will be out this September while Gran Turismo Sport is still due for release at the end of 2017. Another trailer also revealed that Coco Bandicoot is playable in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.  The main show started with an epic story trailer for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. This standalone spin-off game is looking just as awesome as any of the main titles in the series. Below you can also look at the first DLC for Horizon: Zero Dawn called 'The Frozen Wilds' also out later this year.

In terms of new titles announced, Capcom revealed that Monster Hunter Worlds is coming to PS4. This game looks pretty cool as you can hunt down dinosaurs and other big creatures. Another cool new revelation is that Bluepoint Games is working on a full remake of Shadow of the Colossus. The game is looking gorgeous.  There was also a montage of a lot of PlayStation VR games being released in the near future. This includes titles such as The Inpatient, Bravo Team and even a game that Elijah Wood is involved in. It's great to see Sony is still supporting VR for the foreseeable future.  One impressive gameplay trailer that wowed me was Days Gone. Days Gone looks like a mix between The Last of Us and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Players are able to use stealth and even open doors for zombies to kill off enemies. Not to mention the graphics look great.

God of War was revealed at last year's E3 event and this year shows even more awesome gameplay. The new  combat mechanics keeps the gameplay feel fresh and innovative. It's also worth saying the game's director, Cory Balrog, mentioned that today's trailer was captured using a vanilla PS4. God of War will be out in early 2018.

Lastly, the main event of the show belonged to Insomniac Games' Spider-Man video game. We got to see actual gameplay footage of Spider-Man beating up a bunch of thugs at the top of a building. It was also revealed that Kingpin will be one of the villains. It is by far the most cinematic looking Spider-Man game I have ever seen and I've played a lot of them in the past. The game will be out in 2018, although a specific release date was not given.

Overall, Sony's E3 2017 press conference was clinical this year. The publisher focused more on giving us game trailers as opposed to announcing new video games. It's sad to see that The Last of Us 2 was missing from the show. We also never got to see any new developments from the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 or Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Hopefully next year Sony will be able to bring out more big guns to the party like it did at the memorable. E3 2015 event
