Going underground with Metro Redux...

Deep Silver have released a video showcasing the enhanced experience players can expect in their upcoming Metro Redux.

The two game package coming out later this month for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC includes specially remastered versions of 4A Games' Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Moscow, humanity has retreated in the city's metro system. The games follow the series protagonist, Artyom, as he journeys across the wasteland and through Moscow's tunnel system.  On his way he encounters terrifying mutants and even more horrifying human factions.

Critically acclaimed on Xbox 360, PS4 and PC, it is  only players with high-end PC systems have been able to experience the developer's vision as they intended.

Whilst Metro 2033 broke the mold when it comes in-game post-apocalyptic narratives, the last-gen console visuals look tired compared to it's PC counterpart.

On PC I found Metro: Last Light to be a breathtaking experience- as you can read in my Game Console review here. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, however, made so many visual compromises that I could hardly bear to play them.

For Metro Redux 4A have upgraded Metro 2033 with a new version of the amazing game engine that they used for Metro: Last Light. This gives console owners that same level of graphical fidelity that only high-end PC owners have previously been enjoying.

PC players returning to the games will not only experience the enhanced visual in Metro 2033, but also up to 4k resolution in both games- if their systems can handle it. The new versions of the games also feature explained levels and extra sequences making Metro Redux the definitive version of the series.

I for one an looking forward to experiencing the horrors of the Metro games once more on PS4 when the package releases on 29th August.
