A June update for the SingStar franchise will allow players to compete against other players singing the same song via the PlayStation Network.

No longer will SingStar players be limited to local competitive matches: Online Battle Mode enables players to challenge their PlayStation Network friends and view their opponents’ live scores and even watch them singing via the PlayStation Eye peripheral.

An exact date for the update has not yet been specified.
