Uber has launched an option that allows users to specifically request vehicles with up to six seats (plus driver) for large groups.
Users open the Uber app and will be given the additional option to swipe across to uberXL.
“Cricket, holidays, parties... Sometimes four [seats] just isn't enough. For these times, we're proud to introduce uberXL,” the company announced.
In additional to uberXL, Uber is also making adjustments to its pricing structure in Auckland.
“These changes shouldn't have any effect on the majority of trips and are done to ensure we continue to offer a service that is safe and reliable, whilst still affordable”.
Uber is also scrapping its Airport to Auckland CBD flat fare. The flat fare was initially introduced as a way to protect Uber riders from potentially high fares during peak travel times, but after user feedback, the company has dropped the flat fee.
The minimum trip for uberX is now $6 and rounding on fares has been removed. Cancellation fees are now $10. Uber charges a cancellation fee if a user cancels more than five minutes after requesting a ride.
“This compensates Uber partners for the time and distance they've already covered to pick you up,” Uber says. “If we expect your driver to be more than 5 minutes late (based on the current ETA), you may cancel without charge.”
“We're working hard to make Uber a safe, reliable and affordable transport option in Auckland, changing the way Kiwis move”.
