Dell launches new AI-powered laptops with extreme battery life

Wed, 22nd May 2024

Dell Technologies has unveiled a new range of Copilot+ AI PCs, powered by Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors, at the Dell Tech World. This release includes five new laptops: the XPS 13, Inspiron 14 Plus, Inspiron 14, Latitude 7455, and Latitude 5455. These new models aim to elevate computing with exceptional speed and AI performance, catering to both consumers and commercial users.

The standout feature across these devices is their groundbreaking battery life, enabling users to work, create, and communicate without concerns about frequent recharging. The artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, facilitated by 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of performance on the neural processing unit (NPU), allow for efficient execution of AI tasks. Another notable feature is the on-device Copilot, offering instantaneous search results even without internet connectivity, thus enhancing security and accessibility for users.

Dell's newly introduced AI PCs are designed to leverage on-device AI across the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, premium GPU, and NPU, ensuring users get the best experience right on their device. This integration promises to usher in new AI experiences characterised by enhanced productivity, creativity, and robust security features.

The XPS 13, in particular, is the first in its series to feature Copilot+ powered by Snapdragon X Elite. Known for being thin and lightweight, the XPS 13 now boasts multi-day battery life, up to 27 hours, making it suitable for both everyday productivity and content creation. This model aims to deliver cutting-edge responsiveness and impressive speed, catering to demanding workloads and creative endeavours.

Two new Inspiron AI laptops have also been introduced: Inspiron 14 Plus and Inspiron 14. Both feature lightweight, low-emissions aluminium construction and an EPEAT Gold rating for energy efficiency. The Inspiron 14 Plus, available in ice blue, offers up to 15 hours of battery life, providing a superior video and audio experience with its quad speakers and QHD+ display. On the other hand, the Inspiron 14, available in titan grey, focuses on ease of use, with features such as voice commands and a mechanical privacy shutter.

For business professionals, the new Latitude AI laptops incorporate Copilot+ functionality with Snapdragon X Elite 12-core and Snapdragon X Plus 10-core processors. The Latitude 7455, a premium model, offers up to 21 hours of battery life, a 14-inch QHD+ touch display, quad speakers, and optional 5G connectivity. It is constructed with low-emissions and recycled aluminium. Meanwhile, the Latitude 5455 features a mainstream AI business laptop design with a 16:10 FHD+ display, dual speakers, and multiple security measures.

Dell also introduces new AI experiences through Recall and Cocreator, which respectively enhance file search and AI-generated image creation. Live Captions translate audio from 44 languages to English, facilitating seamless communication on video calls. Further, new Windows Studio effects and Auto Super Resolution enhance call collaboration and video quality respectively.

The launch is accompanied by new peripherals, including two keyboards. The Dell Silent Keyboard and Mouse (KM555) offers silent operation suitable for open office environments, while the Dell Wired Collaboration Keyboard (KB525C) focuses on optimising Zoom and Microsoft Teams performance.

Dell underscores its commitment to sustainability with recovery and recycling services to responsibly retire devices.
