Nokia releases low-price, high feature 4.2 smartphone
Nokia's latest mid-range smartphone, the 4.2, is now available in New Zealand.
It includes a dual-rear camera, biometric face unlock and the latest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, with Android 9 Pie.
"Being on a budget doesn't mean that you shouldn't have access to the best Android experience and the latest aspirational trends," says HMD Global ANZ country manager James Robinson, Country Manager ANZ, HMD Global:
"From cutting-edge experiences to beautiful craftsmanship; AI innovations to dual-rear cameras, the Nokia 4.2 brings to New Zealanders all the aspirational experiences you expect from the latest smartphone for a fraction of the price you'd expect to pay.
With a dedicated button, the Nokia 4.2 allows you to press once for instant access to the Google Assistant.
Double press to receive a visual snapshot of your day from the Google Assistant with intelligent suggestions and personalised information, including transport info, bills that need paying and what you have in your calendar.
Long-press the button to activate a walkie-talkie mode, which lets the Google Assistant listen to you until you release it for long sentence queries.
Many of the flagship features on the Nokia 4.2 are powered by AI, including face unlock and exclusive Google Assistant actions to open apps quicker, including launching the camera app.
It has a thickness of 8.4mm with glass on the front and back, a lightweight metal internal structure and satin-finish polycarbonate frame, and the power button includes a light to alert for notifications.
The 4.2's dual rear cameras combine the 13MP main camera with the depth sensor, and are powered by AI and machine learning.
The camera app has a bokeh mode and low-light HDR mode.
It launches with Android 9 Pie with Android One out of the box, joining the line-up of Nokia smartphones in the Android One family.
It also joins the Android Enterprise Recommended programme, making Nokia the company with the most devices on the programme.
The Nokia 4.2 will receive three years of monthly security patches and two major OS updates, as guaranteed in the Android One programme.
In addition, Google Play Protect scans over 50 billion apps per day to keep your phone safe from malware.
It also comes with access to Google Photos with free unlimited high-quality photo storage.
Nokia 4.2 is available in New Zealand from Tuesday 3 September, in Black or Pink Sand for $349NZD through Spark New Zealand, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery and Noel Leeming.
