PPDS unveils 13-inch Philips Tableaux 4150 ePaper display

Mon, 17th Jun 2024

PPDS has unveiled the latest development in its ePaper with Android SoC signage range, introducing the new 13-inch Philips Tableaux 4150. Available in both portrait and landscape modes, the new display aims to provide businesses with more options for digital signage networks using full-colour ePaper displays.

The new 13-inch Tableaux display is a response to customer feedback from sectors such as retail, corporate, hospitality, healthcare, food and beverage, and transportation. This launch expands PPDS' ePaper display offerings following the introduction of the 25-inch 4150 and the 32-inch 5150 models at previous ISE events.

Globally available, the 13-inch Philips Tableaux 4150 boasts a white bezel design and has been developed in partnership with E Ink. It carries forward the zero power features and Android functionalities that are hallmarks of the larger models in the Tableaux range. According to PPDS, these displays are recognised as the world's first ePaper digital signage products from a major manufacturer.

The display serves as an energy-efficient solution for businesses aiming to transition from paper-based signage to digital formats. It is capable of showing vibrant, sunlight-readable imagery without consuming electricity, except during image transitions when it requires minimal power. Potential applications include wayfinding in corporate environments, promoting retail offers, displaying live transport information, and serving as digital menus in cafes and restaurants.

The 13-inch Philips Tableaux 4150 features a 1600 x 1200 resolution, ensuring clear and impactful communication. Additionally, it includes 16GB of internal memory, obviating the need for an external media player. Content can be uploaded instantly via USB, LAN, or WiFi, by connecting the display to a power source.

Designed for 24/7 usage, the Philips Tableaux displays can function unplugged, making them suitable for locations with limited or no access to power. Weighing 1.3kg, the 13-inch 4150 is portable and can be easily moved to different locations as needed.

Andrea Barbuti, Global Product Manager EMEA at PPDS, emphasised the practical benefits. "In businesses, there are always instances where additional and often temporary messaging and communications are required. This could be as simple as warning customers that the store will be closing early on a given day, or asking people to be quiet in an office building or school while interviews or exams are taking place," she said.

"There are examples of locations where ePaper can provide significant benefits almost everywhere you look. Just walking into the Las Vegas Convention Center this week, I have seen hundreds, maybe even thousands of posters placed along the walls and above escalators, each advertising events and products. These have all been manually placed and will have to be replaced and binned in the coming days. That's a lot of paper wastage, and unnecessary printing, travel and expense. With Philips Tableaux, all of that is gone. Messages can be created and presented on the Philips Tableaux in a matter of minutes, with the freedom to place the unit wherever is most convenient, temporarily or permanently. Not only does it reduce waste, it looks far more professional, too," she added.

PPDS continues to extend its ePaper portfolio with this latest offering, focusing on providing solutions that are both sustainable and versatile for a range of business applications.
