Google rolls out new Android update

Wed, 30th Jun 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Google has released its Android 2.2 platform update, which Nexus One users can download right now.

The company says that the new update provides “some great new features including support for making your handset a portable hotspot and support for Adobe Flash within the browser”.

For users there are new home screen tips that tell you how to configure the home screen with shortcuts and widgets and make use of multiple home screens. The phone, applications launcher, and browser now have dedicated shortcuts on the Home screen, making it easy to access them from any of the home screen panels.

New developer services allow apps that can utilise Android Cloud to Device Messaging service to enable mobile alert, send to phone, and two-way push sync functionality.

You can check out a list of all things new here.

Google says that most Nexus One users should have received a message to download the new update by the end of the week. If you're already on the new Android, tell us what you think about it below.
